Mission

In the midst of the Anthropocene our journey begins… Mission Rewild was founded to serve our natural world by providing an inspiring voice and a lasting vision rooted deeply in a more ecologically minded ethic. Through storytelling, visual arts, education and advocacy our conservation efforts prioritize the unique and spectacular wildlife, biodiversity and natural heritage we still have left while working tirelessly to rewild our interconnected Earth.

Why Rewild?

Breathing life back into our complex interconnected Earth is a wonderful thing… a hopeful, positive, and necessary thing. The Biodiversity Crisis (or Extinction Crisis) and the Climate Crisis are two of the most consequential tragedies of our time but beyond these particular subjects, we are also suffering from a variety of other ailments, from nature deficit disorder and invasive species issues to plastic pollution and the politicizing of science.

Rewilding is not just about envisioning environmental health over environmental destruction and fighting for biodiversity dynamics over biodiversity death, rewilding is also about reimagining, refocusing, and reprioritizing our relationship with the living world around us.

Founded 2021, California

After years of working on a wide variety of nature and wildlife focused projects around North America and other parts of the world, wildlife photographer and filmmaker Matthew Polvorosa Kline founded Mission Rewild in 2021. While many past experiences have helped shape the core principles and goals of this endeavor, work from recent years involving a cherished backyard National Seashore and a beloved wild animal, the Tule Elk, provided the catalyst for him to lay the foundation for Mission Rewild.
